DORSHA SERVES

Currently, as Chief of Staff for an elected official, I oversee and serve an administration with nearly 170,000 constituents, within five cities.  Simultaneously, I serve as President and Chair of a 501c6 destination marketing organization for my hometown county. In this role, I provide leadership in marketing and advertising the county to travelers and visitors, both locally and nationally. Prior to my current position in government, I served business owners through a boutique consulting firm, which specializes in strategic business and marketing to increase clientele while managing customer relations and increasing profit margins.

At the age of 16, my career began as an Executive Managerial Trainee at  Baltimore’s WJZ-TV. I became CBS Television’s youngest employee in the nation.  Throughout my career, I leveraged my broadcasting experience to excel as a marketing communications professional. Previously, I have served as Public Relations Director, Global Affairs Coordinator, and Executive Director in the nonprofit sector. Most of my nonprofit work centered around serving at-risk youth. In the public sector, I served as Event Planner, Volunteer Services Coordinator, and Acting Public Information Officer.

A proud alumna of the University of Virginia, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Currently, I serve as the President and Chair for the Douglas County Travel and Tourism, Inc. Board of Directors and serve as Secretary for New Jerusalem Worship Center, Inc. Board of Directors. I previously served as an advisory board member for Passion 4 Life, Inc. Under the pseudonym DD Jewell, I am an author of four fiction novels and screenplay writer of several features. I am the proud mother of two sons.
