As Chief of Staff for an elected official, I have served for more than 10 years, overseeing an administration that represents over 180,000 constituents across eight cities. In this role, I manage operations, strategy, and communications to ensure effective, community-centered governance that meets the diverse needs of our residents.

For five years, I also served as the inaugural President and Chair of the Douglas County Travel and Tourism (DCTT) organization—where I led its launch, strategic direction, and brand development. Under my leadership, DCTT reached an audience of more than 300 million people, created innovative tourism products, and significantly increased visitorship and economic growth for the county.

Before entering government service, I founded and led a boutique consulting firm specializing in marketing strategy, brand growth, and business development for small and mid-sized enterprises.

My professional journey began at just 16 years old, when I became an Executive Managerial Trainee at Baltimore’s WJZ-TV, then the youngest employee in CBS Television’s history at the time. Since then, I’ve cultivated extensive experience in public relations, communications, and nonprofit leadership, serving as Public Relations Director, Global Affairs Coordinator, and Executive Director within community-based organizations.

Throughout my career, I’ve remained deeply committed to impact, integrity, and empowerment, serving previously as an Event Planner, Volunteer Services Coordinator, and Acting Public Information Officer—always guided by the belief that true leadership begins with service.

A proud alumna of the University of Virginia, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. I continue to serve on several boards, including the Douglas County Travel and Tourism Board and the New Jerusalem Worship Center, Inc., where I am also Secretary of the Board.

Under my pen name DD Jewell, I am the author of four fiction novels and several screenplays. As a devoted mother of two sons, I strive to lead with excellence, serve with compassion, and live a life that reflects both purpose and faith.
